I had the absolute pleasure photographing an awesome group of kids for Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development. These kiddos are the 2019 Ambassadors for Schreiber and were announced and introduced at the annual Gala!

For today’s blog, I wanted to talk about what it’s like photographing children and some of

my own personal advice.

As many of you are parents of little ones, you may know how challenging it can be to wrangle them to sit nicely for a photo! One thing I always say to the parents is that there is no such thing as a “child model”, children are just children and my goal is to let them be themselves! It is always a surprise photographing kids. You never know if you will get a great smile and giggles looking at the camera or possibly a crying meltdown. Whatever happens, happens that’s why I always allot for more time with children so that there is a better chance of creating a great image.

Another tip for photographing your kids is to let the image come naturally. Sometimes instead of having a kiddo stay seated in a chair, I will let them run around a bit to explore or maybe tell some jokes and make silly faces to get some great giggles! What works for one kid might not work for another, so I have learned to keep an armload of ideas on how to connect with each kid to get those smiles!

Now for this photoshoot, I couldn’t have asked for a better group a kids. All the kiddos were fantastic and even taught me some new jokes along the way! I always have a blast with Schreiber and their kids. I am looking forward to sharing images from their 2019 Gala and Silent Auction. Stay tuned for more.
